Title: Peculiar Domain Wall, Spin Structure Engineering and Element Substitution Effects in Layered Magnetic Quantum Materials

Abstract:

Layered magnetic topological phases and van der Waals magnets are currently research frontiers in condensed matter physics. The rich physical properties have twofold merits for both fundamental research and technical applications. This talk will introduce our recent progress in studying the layered magnetic quantum materials including 1. the observation of giant anomalous domain-wall Hall effect, 2. spin charity engineering induced giant topological Hall effect, and 3. the direct visualization of the impurity occupancy roadmap in Ni-substituted van der Waals ferromagnet Fe3GaTe2. I will also briefly introduce our recent discovery of new superconductors with chiral structure.

Biography of the Speaker:

Yanfeng Guo is a tenured associate professor of Physics and a principle investigator in Shanghaitech University. He got his Ph.D in Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2008. He then did his postdoc research in National Institute for Materials Sciences from 2008 to 2012 and then in University of Oxford from 2012 to 2022. He took the tenure-track assistant professor position in Shanghai Tech Univ. in July of 2015 and got his tenure in July of 2022. He is focusing on new quantum materials exploration and high-quality crystals growth. His research interest is in magnetic topological phases and unconventional superconductivity. He has published more than 220 papers in authorized journals including Nature and Nature series. His citations are of ~ 5200 (Web of Science).
