Title: Loop Current States in Correlated Electron Systems

Language:  Chinese presentation with English slides

Time: 14:30 - 15:30 PM, Wednesday, June 19, 2024

Place: Conference room A417, HPSTAR (Beijing)

Online: Tencent Meeting ID: 832-388-47

Host:  Prof. Liling Sun

Abstract:

In this talk, I will discuss new progress in understanding electronic loop current states in correlated electron systems. A brief review of this type states will be given for cuprates and Kagome lattice superconductors. We will develop correlated electron models where the loopcurrent states are ground states and discuss the physics behind it.

Biography of the Speaker:

Prof. Jiangping Hu received his bachelor's degree from the Department of Technical Physics of Peking University in 1994, master's degree from the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1997 and Ph.D. degree from Stanford University in 2002. From 2004 to 2010, he served as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Purdue University. He has been working at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences since 2010, and served as the Deputy Head of the Laboratory of Condensed Matter Theory and Materials Computation from 2014-2016, and is currently a researcher and Deputy Director of the Institute of Physics. His main research interests are condensed matter theoretical physics and has made significant contributions to topological physics, high-temperature superconductivity, and strongly correlated electron theory, with more than 280 publications and an H-factor of 77. He was selected to be a Fellow of the American Physical Society in 2018, and was awarded the Zhou Peiyuan Prize for Physics in 2019, a New Stone Researcher in 2023.
