Center for High Pressure Science & Technology Advanced Research (HPSTAR) offers master’s, Ph. D. and combined master’s/Ph. D. programs as well as postdoctoral positions. Graduate programs offered at HPSynR major in condensed matter physics, materials science and applied chemistry with concentrations in high pressure physics and physical mechanics and high pressure materials science and chemistry.
The Comprehensive High Pressure Synchrotron Research (HPSynR ) group is specialized in utilizing synchrotron radiation, diamond anvil cell and laser heating techniques as the comprehensive tools to study structural, electronic, and magnetic transition for materials under extreme conditions (high pressure, high/low temperature, external electric/magnetic fields). Our discoveries and creations have great societal impacts and have been published in various highly reputable international journals such as Nature, Nature Communications, Science, Physical Review Letters, Journal of American Chemical Society, Nano Letters etc. We believe that front-line researches, interdisciplinary collaborations and supportive resources are our backbones and the foundation for achieving academic excellences.
At HPSynR, we break the academic bureaucracy, foster inclusive scientific communities , encourage creativities and provide both academic and financial supports to our students. Being a graduate student or postdoc at HPSynR brings you life-worth dynamic education and research experiences. You will have the opportunities to work with our award-winning faculty and peers, conduct experiments in world-wide synchrotron facilities and cooperate with world top scientists to conquer the toughest challenges in physics, chemistry and materials science to make the Earth an ever-better place for living.
