Jilin University, Changchun, Jilin China

Ph.D. degree in Condensed Matter Physics, July 2015

Dissertation: High-Pressure Studies of Zircon-Type ABO4 Nanomaterials

Advisor: Professor Bo Zou

This work comprises high-pressure investigations on structural stability and compressibility of some nano-scaled zircon-type ABO4 compounds. Most of the dissertation has been published as journal articles (see publication list).

B.S. degree in Physics, July 2010

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Operation and maintenance of diamond anvil cells

Optical spectroscopy techniques: micro-Raman, IR, UV-Vis, steady-state and time-resolved photoluminescence, especially at extreme conditions

X-ray diffraction (XRD) at synchrotron sources (i.e. BSRF and SSRF), XRD analysis with GSAS program (Le bail and Rietveld refinements)

Other characterization techniques: SEM, TEM (HRTEM), thermal analysis (i.e. TGA and DSC) and magnetic measurements

Different synthesis methods: high temperature synthesis; solution synthesis (traditional solvents and hydrothermal method); air sensitive synthesis (glove box and Schlenk line)

Computer software: Origin Pro, Peakfit, Material Studio, Microsoft Office and Windows

Additional Graduate Research, Jilin University. In addition to dissertation work, studied pressure-induced polymerization of carbon-rich materials with various unsaturated fragments, pressure-induced photoluminescence enhancement in tetraphenylethene, and host-guest interactions of a luminescent functional metal-organic framework (MOF-76b). Participated in writing the proposal, National Basic Research Program of China (No. 91227202) “Pressure Induced Supramolecular Assembly and their Functions”.

Research Assistant, Jilin University (with advisor B. Zou). Assisted with experimental investigation of high pressure effect on the photoluminescence properties of rare earth oxides and organic chromophores; work resulted in publication (see publication list).
