High Pressure Nanoscience and Physical Chemistry Group

(HPNanoPC Group)

We study structures, structure changes, physical chemical properties and/or behaviors of both bulk and nano materials at different conditions, including high temperature and/or high pressure. We aim at gaining fundamental knowledge of the systems under study and exploit the obtained knowledge for potential new applications. To conduct our challenging research, we make use of both conventional laboratory instruments and state-of-the-art synchrotron facilities, as well as large-scale molecular simulations.

Current research interests include:

Syntheses and high pressure study of a series of high-entropy multi-component complex compounds, including oxides, sulfides, oxysulfides, borides and nitrides for uses as photocatalysts and structural materials;

● High pressure chemical reactions relevant to origin of life and sustainability of life under extreme conditions;

● Structures and behaviors of nanomaterials at high pressure, and non-classical nanocrystal growth under high pressure conditions;

Effect of high pressure on electrochemical equilibrium and kinetics of electrode reactions.
