The group of "Superconducting and Magnetic Materials under Extreme Conditions" led by Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Hafiez is a young research unit of the HPSTAR (research area of Physics of Strangely Correlated Materials). Our group is currently being built up at the HPSTAR in Beijing, China. Our current research group is interested in novel states of matter appearing in materials with strong electronic correlations. The postdoctoral candidate will help to set up experimental apparatus for the measurement of thermal and magnetic properties under pressure. This type of measurement often gives surprising information on the link between several electronic orders such as between superconductivity and charge/spin density waves. It requires the setup of very sensitive electric transport and thermodynamic measurements in a dilution fridge. Additionally, depending on the candidate’s interest, external synchrotron for Muon Spin Resonance (MuSR) and x-ray powder/single crystal diffraction will be also performed.
